IT employee files sex assault, exploitation plaint against male colleague

Kolkata: A 28-year-old woman employed as an adviser at an IT firm in New Town has filed a complaint against a 29-year-old male colleague holding a trainer position in the same organisation, alleging prolonged sexual exploitation, physical assault, cheating, and forced termination of pregnancy.
According to cops, the Technocity Police Station registered a formal case under sections of BNS on Aug 3.
In her complaint, the woman said the colleague initiated contact in late 2025 and persistently pursued a romantic relationship. Relying on continuous promises of marriage and assurances of family consent, the woman accepted his proposal and eventually moved into his residence in Feb 2026. However, she alleged these promises were false, detailing multiple instances of physical abuse as well as extortion of Rs 78,000.
When the complainant discovered her pregnancy in July 2026, the accused forcibly administered abortion medication. The accused allegedly continued to harass her even after she reported the matter to her company’s Internal Complaints Committee under the POSH Act.
