Bengal to allot land parcels to 25 industries within a month: CM Suvendu Adhikari

Kolkata: Bengal govt will hand over land parcels to at least 25 industries within a month, chief minister Suvendu Adhikari announced on Thursday, adding that a land-purchase policy for industries with single-window clearance for investments will be launched soon. “Bengal will become financially strong in the next one or two years and make rapid strides in every sector,” he said.
Asserting that Bengal must be built on every front, Adhikari said, “This work has already begun. First, law-and-order situation must be set right to eradicate hooliganism, syndicate raj, and cut-money culture. There will be a business-friendly environment, a good policy for industry, land arrangement, and a single-window clearance system. We are assuring you that no hooliganism happens here.”
CM, who was inaugurating Kolkata Couture Expo at Milan Mela, said ground-breaking ceremonies of new industries are taking place every month, and mentioned that on Aug 17, bhumi puja for a project worth Rs 4,000 crore by Amit Metaliks will take place.
Acknowledging the issue of high unemployment in the state, Adhikari said, “Our human resources are strong, education is good, and we have skilled artisans. If govt, businessmen and the system work together, the condition of our state will definitely improve. This is Amrit Kaal. Within the next few years, Bengal will become financially strong.”
Stating that PM Modi has taken the initiative to work on Bengal’s growth, he said, “The PM came to Tarakeswar, laid the foundation stone for many projects and inaugurated several others on June 20. He has instructed all ministers, ‘Go to Bengal immediately and work there’.”
Claiming that Bengal had been left to rot over the past five decades, Adhikari said, “Whatever has been ruined over the past 50 years, whatever reality we have before us, we must come up with ways to emerge from it. Now, with a double-engine govt, we are trying to do a lot of work over the past three months.”
Adhikari said Union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman had told him during a recent meeting in Delhi that Centre wants to develop the state’s tea and textiles sectors. “She will be coming here between Aug 24 and Aug 28. I will organise a meeting for you with her,” he told the textile expo participants, adding, “She is thinking about Bengal’s textile industry. It is a golden opportunity.” He also urged the participants to send concrete proposals to chief secretary.
Expressing confidence that the expo will generate business worth Rs 500 crore and Rs 1,000 crore, CM said businesses from across the country will benefit from the event. Taking a dig at the previous govt, Adhikari said the former CM would sneer at the mention of enterprises from places like Surat, calling them “outsiders” and added, “It is our country and everyone from every corner is participating, and I am proud of that,” he said.
