Howrah: A seven-year-old girl was found hanging at her home in Salap Tentultala under Domjur Police Station on Thursday evening, triggering allegations from her maternal family that her father murdered her.
The deceased, Ekta Mondal, a class 1 student, was allegedly strangled with a mosquito-net rope before being hanged, her uncle claimed. He accused Arup Mondal, a food technologist, of harbouring suspicions about his wife’s character and resenting the child. Police detained Arup for questioning, and sent the body for post-mortem to ascertain the exact cause of death.
