Prosperous Bengal essential to resurgent Bharat: Samik

Kolkata: A prosperous Bengal is essential to a resurgent Bharat, state BJP president Samik Bhattacharya said on Saturday, urging young entrepreneurs and home-grown businesses to be the change agents.
Speaking at the inaugural conference of the Kolkata chapter of World Hindu Economic Forum, Bhattacharya said Bengal, once the country’s economic engine, must reclaim its historic position again and urged Hindu businesses to lead the revival.
Bhattacharya, speaking on the sidelines of the meeting, said a team of doctors, settled in Europe, was planning to come to Bengal. “They want to invest an AI-driven hospital. Another company, specialising in the technology of extracting water from humid air for industrial usage, is also interested to invest here. An Indonesian company is interested in the automobile sector in Bengal. Several Bengalis scattered across the country are also coming back to Bengal,” he added.
While state finance minister Swapan Dasgupta spoke about elevating Bengal’s businesses to the next level, state industry and commerce minister Tapas Roy highlighted the need to boost the state’s business environment. State urban development and municipal affairs minister Agnimitra Paul called upon industrialists to work collectively to improve Bengal’s business ecosystem.
Sanjeev Sanyal, member of the PM’s Economic Advisory Committee, and Subrata Gupta, adviser to the CM, were also present.
Swami Vigyanand, founder of World Hindu Economic Forum, said the forum was founded on the belief that a strong civilisation rests on a strong economic foundation.
