Kolkata: Two Ekbalpore youths fell prey to a fake placement agency, one of them getting arrested in Uzbekistan for entering the country illegally. They finally managed to return through Kazakhstan after being released but were shocked after their return when both men, including their family members, were threatened by the office bearers of the fake firm and asked not to lodge police complaints.
Kolkata Police has registered a case against three — a father and his two sons — for allegedly operating an organised overseas job racket that defrauded job seekers of lakhs of rupees, issued forged travel documents, and sent candidates abroad on illegal tourist visas.
Thakurpukur PS registered the case on Aug 7 following a formal plaint by Md Jashim, a victim of the scheme, alongside a Zero FIR transferred from Ekbalpore PS. The accused have been identified as Md Feroz, alias Feroz Bhai, and his two sons, Rehan Feroz and Abrar Feroz.
According to police, the trio operated a consultancy firm first in Ekbalpore and later from Thakurpukur — and systematically targeted individuals seeking employment abroad. Between July 2025 and July 2026, the accused allegedly lured Jashim with promises of a job in Turkiye, extracting Rs 2 lakh through multiple online transactions for visa processing and placement charges.
Another victim, Aiyaz Hossain, was similarly defrauded of Rs 2 lakh after receiving a forged electronic business visa for Uzbekistan from the same individuals.
