Kolkata: Kolkata Police are investigating threat letters sent to former Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly and his wife, Dona Ganguly.
The letters were sent by courier and may have come from Belghoria or a nearby area in North 24 Parganas. Police are checking courier records and tracing a mobile number linked to the sender.
The security directorate is also reviewing Ganguly’s security because the threats are being taken seriously. The latest letters reportedly claimed that the sender was “more powerful than Dada” and could harm him.
Thakurpukur police is handling the case with technical support from the detective department and STF.
Earlier in June, Ganguly had filed an FIR over online harassment and defamation, accusing an unofficial Facebook page and a sports media platform of spreading false information about him.
