KP Constable Accused Of Molesting Help In New Town Hsg

Kolkata: A Kolkata Police constable has been accused of chasing, molesting, and attempting to drag a domestic help into his flat at Sukhobrishti in New Town on Wednesday when the woman had come to work at the complex.
Cops said they have identified the man and have sent him a notice while naming him under BNS sections dealing with sexual assault and wrongful restraint.
According to the woman, a resident of South 24 Parganas, the accused approached her soon after she entered the complex and offered her money to spend time with him at his flat. “He tried to lure me to his flat saying he stayed alone and that he would offer me good money if I spent time with him and could make him happy. I refused and tried to walk away but he blocked my way and tried to drag me to his flat,” she told TOI.
She somehow freed herself and began running. She approached a group of boys playing football on a ground, after which, the man fled.
“Feeling relieved, I started walking towards my employer’s flat when he chased me again. That is when I approached a group of security guards. Seeing me approach them, the man disappeared again. The guards said he is a serial harasser, and advised me to lodge a police complaint,” the woman said.
She went home, told her husband of the ordeal, and then lodged a complaint at Techno City Police Station.
“I went to the complex, spoke to multiple people, and located his flat. I took photographs and then we approached the police,” the woman’s husband said.
“Since there are no witnesses verifying the assault, we haven’t arrested the man immediately and have instead started an investigation while sending him a notice to appear at the police station,” an officer said.
