Kolkata: Two persons were injured as fight broke out at a popular sweet shop in the Karaya area on Friday morning with a BJP Yuva Morcha member and his aide allegedly refusing to pay for some sweets.
Police said the incident took place around 11 am on Friday when the store manager was on duty. The two accused entered the shop, and after they bought some sweets, a dispute broke out that escalated to a physical assault. The prime accused, who called himself a BJP Yuva Morcha member, and his aide attacked the store manager and a companion. Before fleeing, the two threatened them with assault outside the shop premises and with dire consequences. In the scuffle, the two victims sustained injuries and had to be sent to a medical facility.
Based on the complainant’s statement, Karaya PS cops have initiated formal legal proceedings.
Local BJP unit members said it was not feasible to monitor actions of every member. But a party spokesperson said action would be taken if the accused turned out to be an active members of the party.
