Chakma Leaders Urge India to Halt Fuel, Power Exports to Bangladesh

Agartala: Chakma netas in the northeast have urged the Indian govt to halt fuel and power supplies to Bangladesh after PM Tarique Rahman said he would not visit India until Sheikh Hasina and others allegedly linked to the murder of Sharif Osman Hadi are sent back.
The appeal was backed by Rasik Mohan Chakma, Prof Gautam Chakma, Pritimoy Chakma and Suhas Chakma. They said India supplied over 30,000 tonnes of diesel to Bangladesh in March–April despite the West Asia conflict. They also underscored the need for India to cease the operations of India-Bangladesh Friendship Pipeline, which delivers 180,000 metric tonnes of diesel annually.
Citing India’s energy strain, Prof Chakma noted new LPG production targets set on Aug 16 and urged stopping power exports from Adani’s Godda coal plant to Bangladesh, which was projected to reach around 2.25 billion kWh by end of 2025. They called Rahman’s stance disrespectful and raised long-standing demands over the Chittagong Hill Tracts.
