KOLKATA: The Mamata Banerjee-led faction of the Trinamool Congress Chhatra Parishad (TMCP) moved the Calcutta high court on Monday, seeking an urgent hearing over Kolkata Police allegedly failing to respond to its request to hold the TMCP foundation day event on August 28 at the Gandhi Statue on Mayo Road.
TMCP counsel Arka Kumar Nag mentioned the matter before Justice Saugata Bhattacharyya, seeking an urgent hearing.
The matter is expected to appear on the list on Wednesday. Justice Bhattacharyya allowed Nag to mention it again on Thursday if it is not taken up.
Nag submitted that permission was sought from Kolkata Police on July 27.
Reminders were sent on August 3 and 7, but there was no response from the police. A petition was subsequently filed in the high court on August 14.
