  • Kolkata: In a major push to bridge the civilian-military divide, the Territorial Army will host the two-day ‘TA-2.0 Symposium 2026’ at the Dhono Dhanyo Auditorium in Alipore on Thursday and Friday.

The symposium, themed ‘Know Your Territorial Army’, will highlight how working professionals can contribute to the armed forces while continuing with their civilian careers.

The symposium will bring together students, entrepreneurs, industry leaders, researchers and environmentalists across five core verticals — civil-military integration, tech & innovation, ecological stewardship, skill capitalisation and youth outreach.

“The symposium will focus on strengthening army-industry partnerships and national security through collaborative frameworks. It will seek to tap homegrown startups and academic research to develop indigenous solutions for modern battlefield requirements and highlight the work of the TA’s Ecological Task Force in afforestation, land reclamation, and ecosystem conservation,” an official said.

The symposium will also explore ways to leverage specialised civilian talent, from cyber security to engineering, for defence preparedness and engage educational institutions to create awareness about alternate pathways into national service, officials said.

The opening day will feature thematic discussions, including a session titled ‘Towards Multidimensional Resilience – From Borders to Bytes’, along with industry and ethnic exhibitions, formal MoU/MoA signings and a screening of the documentary ‘Know Your Territorial Army’.

The second day will focus on sustainability, recruitment strategies and future force preparedness. Lt Gen Rakesh Kapoor is scheduled to deliver the keynote address on the strategic roadmap of the Territorial Army.

The seminar is open to the public, the official added.
