  • Keshpur: Internal infighting between veteran BJP workers and recent inductees turned violent in Keshpur, with several party workers injured in clashes over the past few days. The violence follows a series of defections to BJP.

On Sunday, a rival BJP faction allegedly attacked a party rally and street meeting at the Chandchokh booth in Keshpur’s No. 11 region with bamboo sticks, iron rods and stones. Workers from both factions were injured.

Ajoy Krishna Pradhan, vice-president of BJP Ghatal organisational district, blamed the local leadership. “Since 4 June, new BJP members have been causing trouble in Keshpur, preventing old-timers from working. They attacked our rally. Tanmoy Ghosh has not attended a meeting in two years, and this violence is happening at his instigation,” Pradhan said.

Denying the allegations, Tanmoy Ghosh, secretary of BJP Ghatal organisational district, said, “A few renegade BJP members are creating trouble. The allegations against me are baseless.”
