• 3,829 women reported missing in Tripura in three years: CM

  • Agartala: Tripura CM Manik Saha, who holds the home portfolio, said 3,829 women and girls had been reported missing in the state over the past three years. Of these, 3,641 had been traced or recovered, while 188 remained unaccounted for, he told assembly in response to queries by CPM MLA Sudip Sarkar and TIPRA Motha MLA Ranjit Debbarma.

    Saha said 3,194 women and 635 girls had been reported missing. Police are searching for those still missing using CCTV footage, call records, subscriber details and bank transaction data, while coordinating with neighbouring police stations, districts, states and BSF.

    Details of missing persons are being shared through newspapers, local cable channels and social media, and uploaded to the CCTNS, Bharatpol and Vatsalya portals. District anti-human trafficking units are also regularly reviewing the cases with police officers, the CM said.
