CM Suvendu Adhikari reviews impact of health schemes

Kolkata: Within the first fortnight of its launch, Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY and the Mukhya Mantri Swasthya Bima Yojana has touched the lives of 19,700 Bengal residents including 452 Bengal residents who are stationed in other states due to work. On Tuesday, CM Suvendu Adhikari interacted with some beneficiaries virtually from Swasthya Bhawan.
“We launched the two health schemes on Aug 16. Many are yet to get their cards and the process is on. So far 19,700 individuals have benefited. 452 beneficiaries from outside the state got their treatment done under Ayushman Bharat in Odisha, Maharashtra and Jharkhand hospitals. This is a big achievement for us,” said Adhikari.
The few patients with whom the CM interacted virtually included Gopal Mondal of Sonarpur who got his heart surgery done at Desun Hospital and Farhan Ali of Birbhum who also underwent surgery in a nursing home.
‘I spoke to Asgar Ali, father of four-year-old Farhan. Post the surgery the boy is doing well. His father blessed our PM Naredra Modi. Ours is a govt which does not discriminate against citizens on the basis of religion or caste. All the other patients I could connect with, including those from Kalimpong, Nadia, South 24 Parganas, East Midnapore and Hooghly thanked us,” Adhikari told the media.
The state BJP govt already clarified that beneficiaries who are not eligible for Ayushman Bharat will be enrolled under the Mukhya Mantri Swasthya Bima Yojana.
