Kolkata: Chief minister Suvendu Adhikari on Thursday reiterated that the state govt would not tolerate graffiti or slogans calling for Kashmir’s independence or those that do not speak in favour of the nation.
“This is the land of Netaji and Swami Vivekananda. Here you will say ‘Kashmir Maange Azadi’?” he asked.
“You will not take out a rally when Pahalgam (attack) takes place, but you will demand an end to war during Operation Sindoor. Do we have to tolerate this?” he said.
“You will write Free Palestine on the walls of Jadavpur University. We have to witness this? Why don’t you write Free Pak-occupied-Kashmir? I will support you,” the CM said.
JU authorities had whitewashed several graffiti, including those bearing the words “Free Palestine”.
“We were such a large country. Mughals, Pathans, then the British divided and reduced the size of our country,” Adhikari said.
Earlier also, the CM had said: “Were the slogans in favour of the country or in the interest of education? What is Palestine? What is red salute for? How many innocent people were killed? Jnaneswari train was blown up (in 2010), 109 people (were killed). Twenty-seven EFR personnel were killed. You want me to remain CM and police minister and you will write ‘Kashmir Maange Azadi’!”
