An audio visual presentation, directed by Sandip Ray, was screened at Sisir Mancha on Saturday. Produced by the Ray Society, this presentation used a voiceover of Satyajit Ray, who had paid a glowing tribute to Uttam Kumar after the actor’s death, declaring there was no one like him and no one who could ever replace him. Ray had delivered this historic, emotionally charged audio address at Technicians’ Studio, where he said he never found a single fault in his performance in ‘Nayak’. He had highlighted the actor’s mastery over use of pause, gravitas on sets even when the camera was off and how directors never gave him enough acting opportunities.
