Kolkata: The Kolkata Police Anti Burglary Squad, has arrested two men on February 23 in connection with the alleged theft of high-tension power cables and related materials worth about Rs 1.4 crore from CESC’s New Cossipore Generating Station, police said.
The case was registered at Cossipore Police Station on January 21, 2026, under Section 136 of the Electricity Act, 2003. Police said the complaint was filed by Sanchayan Dhar, deputy manager at CESC Ltd,
According to the complaint, the theft occurred sometime before January 19, at the generating station located at Jheel Road,. The stolen items included high-tension cables and materials comprising 33KV Grade 1000 XLPE, 33KV Grade 400 XLPE and 11KV Grade XLPE cables, along with poles, police said.
The arrested men were identified as Ibrahim Sk, 37, and Asraf Morol, 34, of Natunhat village under Hemnagar Coastal police station in South 24 Parganas district. Police said they were arrested at around 2:30 pm from in front of the Gun & Shell Factory on Khagendra Chatterjee Road, Cossipore. No recovery was made, police said. MSID:: 128753282 413 |
