Camac St ruckus: Derek OâBrien questioned by cops again, this time for 6 hours

Kolkata: Trinamoolâs leader in the Rajya Sabha Derek OâBrien was questioned by Kolkata Police for nearly six hours on Tuesday in connection with the Aug 27 scuffle during the removal of an illegal billboard from party general secretary Abhishek Banerjeeâs Camac Street office. This was OâBrienâs second questioning in the case.
OâBrien reached Shakespeare Sarani police station around 11.10am and left around 5pm.
Police have registered a suo motu case against Banerjee, OâBrien, Banerjeeâs personal aide Sumit Roy and others over alleged obstruction of govt officials and assault during the operation.
On Aug 27, KMC officials, accompanied by police, had gone to the office to remove the unauthorised billboard. The operation allegedly led to an altercation involving party functionaries, private security personnel and govt officials. At least 14 people have been arrested.
