  • Kolkata: Conmen from Taratala allegedly duped a jobseeker of Rs 4 lakh after they falsely promised the man of securing him a well-paid job in New Zealand.

The victim’s wife lodged a complaint at the Taltala Police Station against three persons, including a woman. The jobseeker, a resident of Alimuddin Street, had approached an office on Abdul Halim Lane in April last year after being promised overseas employment. His wife allegedly paid Rs 3 lakh through bank transactions and Rs 1 lakh in cash. The accused later sent an alleged New Zealand offer letter and documents on WhatsApp, but did not arrange for a visa.
