Lightning strikes kill 2 in Jalpaiguri

Arjun, a mahout patrolling in Gorumara National Park atop a kunki elephant, took shelter under a tree after dismounting and was struck by lightning there. He was taken to Mangalbari Grameen Hospital and declared brought dead.
In Gadong, Dhupguri, Ratna was ploughing her family field with two cows when lightning hit her. T he storm uprooted trees, blocking NH-717 and disrupting traffic for hours.
