Tamanna murder: Charges framed against 24
Times of India | 10 September 2026Tamanna died on June 23, 2025, after a crude bomb was hurled at her house during a post-bypoll victory rally taken out by Trinamool Congress supporters. Prime accused Dayal Sheikh, then a local TMC booth committee president, was among those named in the complaint. Of the 24 accused named in the FIR, 23 are in judicial custody and one is out on bail.
Police filed a supplementary chargesheet before Nadia chief judicial magistrate’s court in July under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Section 25 of Arms Act and Sections 3 and 4 of Explosive Substances Act. Advocate Bivas Chatterjee has been appointed special public prosecutor.
The framing of charges follows months of protests by the victim’s family over police delays. While 11 accused were arrested earlier, 13 remained on the run until late June.
