17-year-old girl rescued from New Market hotel
Times of India | 11 September 2026The girl on Tuesday left her home at Sankarhati in Jagatballavpur, saying she was going to school. As told by the accused, she left her mobile, switched off, at home to dodge tracking. Police said the accused, suspected to be operating from Pakistan and having Indians conduits from UP and Bihar, targeted the victim on social media by posing as members of a charitable foundation supporting underprivileged students. The girl was offered a receptionist’s job in the US with a monthly salary of Rs 3,00,000, along with educational sponsorship.
The abductors kept her at the hotel and planned to put her on a flight to the US via Mumbai and Dubai. They also started making ransom calls to her father, demanding Rs 5,00,000, which was reduced to Rs 3,00,000.
