Another low pressure forms, Kolkata to get scattered rain

Kolkata: Another low-pressure area formed over Bay of Bengal triggered scattered rain in the city on Thursday. The Met office, however, has allayed the fear of this system bringing widespread rain to Kolkata. While the city is likely to continue to get light to moderate rain, districts including East and West Midnapore, Jhargram and Bankura may get pounded by an intense downpour.
The low-pressure area formed over North Bay of Bengal and its surrounding areas on Thursday morning under the influence of an upper air cyclonic circulation over North Bay of Bengal and adjoining Bangladesh. The system is likely to head towards Odisha and have its maximum impact in the neighbouring state.
“In the city, we can expect passing showers in the next three days similar to that of Thursday. Even as the low-pressure area will have less impact on Kolkata, this system along with the monsoon flow will bring a few spells of light to moderate rain to Kolkata,” said Regional Meteorological Centre Kolkata head HR Biswas.
