• 2 warders suspended over Baruipur jail escape

  • Kolkata: Two jail warders have been suspended after an undertrial prisoner escaped from Baruipur Correctional Home, only to be rearrested from his Bakultala residence on the same day.

    The accused, 25-year-old Ashwar Ali Laskar, allegedly gave jail staff the slip. Following a complaint by jail authorities, police tracked Laskar to his home in Bakultala police station area and sent him back to the correctional home.

    Correctional home authorities initiated disciplinary action against the two warders for alleged negligence of duty. Police are now probing how the prisoner managed to breach security arrangements to reach his house.
