BJP has zero tolerance for extortion, violence, Samik tells workers
Times of India | 14 September 2026Speaking at the inauguration of a Ganesh Puja in north Kolkata, Bhattacharya, a Rajya Sabha member, said BJP had received a “massive mandate” and had a responsibility to maintain a peaceful environment conducive to investment. He inaugurated several Ganesh pujas across the city during the day.
Bhattacharya also linked Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations to the state’s economic aspirations.“Let Lord Ganesh facilitate a surge of investment in Bengal, stop the migration of labour and take Bengal to the top rungs among the front-ranking states,” he said.
He said lakhs of Sanatani Hindus were peacefully observing Ganesh Chaturthi across the state under the BJP govt.
In a social media post, Bhattacharya called for an education system based on the principle of “one nation, one education”, saying every child should have equal opportunities and access to quality education irrespective of religion or identity.
“India’s secular character demanded an education system free from religious control and practices, with the focus instead on knowledge, rational thinking, scientific temper and human values,” he said.
He said education should keep pace with changing times and become more modern, technology-driven, employment-oriented and progressive.
Bhattacharya warned that an education system trapped in superstition and narrow-mindedness could hinder the country’s progress.
“A child’s future should never be determined by his or her religion or identity,” he said, adding that BJP’s objective was to build a superstition-free, scientific, modern and progressive education system. “Our goal is one country, one education system,” he said.
