CISCE begins inspection of board exam venues, focuses on security
Times of India | 14 September 2026The principal of a city school said, “The inspection is not new. Every year, the council conducts such inspections before the exams. However, this year, the process has started quite early. The council has given a deadline of Sept 15 to upload all these details after the physical inspection of each school, mentioning the date of inspection as well. They are actually trying to make systematic process for conducting exams smoothly.”
The council became vigilant after a packet of ISC psychology question papers was lost in transit in 2024, forcing it to reschedule the examination. Following the incident, the council added key questions to the proforma, seeking bank details, including the contact person at the respective branches.
Another portion of the proforma seeks details of schools’ infrastructure and facilities, including measurements of the examination halls and laboratories to assess student capacity.
The council is assessing CCTV surveillance in every examination room, including the number of cameras and whether they adequately cover each hall. It is also seeking details of schools with adequate CCTV surveillance in areas where confidential materials will be kept.
Another principal said, “We have already increased the number of CCTV cameras at the exam halls after a circular we received two years ago, where the council asked us to be under CCTV surveillance during the exam. We are also aware of the requirement to preserve CCTV footage till the results are published. I really appreciate such an initiative taken by the council so that each school knows where they have a shortage and can develop their infrastructure according to the requirements.”
Another major part of the inspection is the availability of an infirmary or medical room during the exam period. Schools without such facilities must specify the medical arrangements available if they are required during the exams.
