Job demand ends in violence at Dum Dum factory
Times of India | 14 September 2026Company MD Sudhir Satnaliwala urged the state to invoke the Anti-Goonda Bill to ensure the safety of workers employed by small and medium-sized businesses. He said he would write to CM Suvendu Adhikari and the industries minister, seeking their intervention, as local police were yet to take action against those allegedly involved.
“They introduced themselves as associates of a local influential party functionary and assaulted some of our senior staff, including plant in-charge Ritesh Agarwal,” Satnaliwala told TOI.
He alleged that some members of the group returned to the plant on Sunday morning and tried to take control of the factory’s operations.
“We have received a complaint and a probe has been launched,” an officer said.
Dum Dum BJP MLA Arijit Bakshi, however, said the dispute appeared to have arisen over protests against alleged illegal activities in the area.
