  • Kolkata Metro witnessed an unprecedented surge in passenger numbers on New Year's Day, recording a staggering 4,83,607 commuters on the Blue Line alone. This marked a substantial increase of 27.31% compared to the same corridor's ridership on January 1, 2023, which stood at 3,79,976 passengers.

    The highest number of passengers, totaling 52,584, were documented at the Dumdum station.Rabindra Sadan and Dakshineswar also saw significant footfall, with passenger counts reaching 37,903 and 35,734, respectively. Contrasting this with the statistics from the previous year, on January 1, 2023, Dumdum topped the charts with 43,516 passengers, followed by Esplanade with 30,344 and Dakshineswar with 29,497.

    Metro Railway's meticulous planning received accolades from commuters, who expressed satisfaction with the smooth, safe, and secure services provided on New Year's Day. Authorities attributed the record-breaking numbers to strategic planning, ensuring a seamless travel experience for the large influx of passengers during the festive period.
