• 80L visit Duare Sarkar camps in eighth edition

  • Kolkata: The eighth edition of Duare Sarkar camps held between December 15 and 31 witnessed a footfall of 80 lakh at more than 1 lakh camps. Bina Mulya Samajik Suraksha. Aikyashree, Lakshmir Bhandar, Swasthya Sathi and Aadhaar-related schemes were most in demand at the camps this time. An official said the service delivery at the camps will continue till January 31.

    CM Mamata Banerjee had launched Duare Sarkar in December 2020 and, so far, the turnout at the 6.6 lakh camps held has been over 11.3 crore.

    An official said that till January 1, 2024, 50 lakh of the 71 lakh applications received were disposed of. Of these 50 lakh applications, 49.9 lakh were approved. Services have been delivered in 34.7 lakh cases.

    Some of the districts that had a high turnout included Murshidabad, which had over 8.9 lakh visitors and where 8 lakh applications were approved; North 24 Parganas that had 8.3 lakh visitors and where 4.5 lakh applications were cleared; South 24 Parganas, which had a turnout of 7.8 lakh visitors and where 6.5 lakh applications were approved.

    Swasthya Sathi, one of the major demands, has already covered 2.4 crore families and arranged free hospitalisation for 64 lakh patients. Kanyashree had enrolled 2.8 crore applicants and sanctioned 2.7 crore applications.
