  • Accusing his colleagues of “unethical practices” and “corruption”, TMC MLA and Dalit literature writer Manoranjan Byapari Wednesday alleged his life was under threat and that he was being targeted by two of his own party’s members.

The Balagarh legislator alleged that he was facing a threat to his life from TMC Zilla Parishad member Runa Khatun and her husband Arijit Das. He said he wouldn’t visit his constituency until he gets security. Khatun and Das denied the allegation.

In a Facebook post on Wednesday, Byapari said: “Certain leaders in my constituency (Balagarh in Hooghly district) are indulging in unethical practices. I also protested against illegal sand mining and irregularities in the public distribution system by a section of my party leaders,” Byapari wrote.

This is not the first time that Byapari has taken to social media to express his dissatisfaction with the TMC brass. In June, Byapari had resigned from party two posts over candidates for the 2023 panchayat election.
