• Met: Expect gradual rise in temperature over 5 days

    OFFICIALS AT the Alipore weather office have forecast a gradual rise in temperatures over the next five days, dispelling the lingering winter chill.

    “There is a chance of the minimum temperature increasing on three consecutive days: Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, or until January 7,” said Dr Somenath Dutta, head of Meteorological Training Institute at India Meteorological Department (IMD).  On Thursday Kolkata recorded a minimum temperature of 15°C (degrees celsius), and the maximum temperature at 26°C (degrees celsius). According to the weather office , no major changes are expected in the next few days of this week.

    As per the weekly weather forecast of Kolkata, the temperature is expected on the different days of the week will be 16 degrees Celsius on Thursday, 18 degrees Celsius on Friday, 19 degrees Celsius on Saturday, 19 degrees Celsius on Sunday, 19 degrees Celsius on Monday.

    As per weather office, the chill that gripped the city earlier seems to be gradually dissipating, with Wednesday Kolkata recording a minimum temperature of 14°C.

    Meanwhile, the northern part of West Bengal received light rain showers with a maximum daytime temperature reaching 15°C. Nights are cooler, with temperatures dropping to a minimum of 4°C.
