According to police sources, the email sent early on Friday said multiple bombs were placed in the museum and the explosions could kill several people. On receiving the email, the museum authorities immediately reported the matter to the police. Sources said the bomb squad has already started a search operation on the premises. Each room in the museum is being examined carefully. The police are sanitising the entire building.
The area in front of the museum has been cordoned off. All tourists and visitors are being turned away, while pedestrians are being asked to leave the sidewalk.
A probe is also underway to determine who is behind the email.
