Kolkata: The Kolkata Traffic Police said that though they are “fully prepared” to face the Sunday challenge, when two separate congregations take place in the city from morning, there might be a time when movement towards central Kolkata can get slower.
While the DYFI Brigade congregation is expected to witness a noteworthy turnout, thus slowing down roads around Maidan like Kidderpore Road, Dufferin Road or Hospital Road, a religious rally – scheduled to travel from south to central Kolkata – will be assigned SP Mukherjee road-JL Nehru road alignment.
On Sunday, seven rallies will also precede the Brigade meeting, the originating points to be major landmarks like Howrah station, Sealdah station and Shyambazar. These rallies are likely to move towards Brigade Parade Ground from 10am, with the rally officially commencing at noon. The Metro is yet again expected to provide the most reliable connection with central Kolkata.
