The arrested duo have been identified as Mehboob Mollah and Sukalam Sarkar. Both are residents of Akunjipara in Sandeshkhali. They were absconding after the attack on the ED team on January 5.

According to sources, a district police team conducted a raid and arrested the two after getting a tip-off. The accused were involved in the attack on the ED team and were identified based on media footage.

However, the main accused and Trinamool leader Sheikh Shahjahan is still absconding.

Three ED officers were injured and several of their vehicles were vandalised by hundreds of supporters of Sheikh last Friday. The attack happened when the ED team went to raid Sheikh’s house in Sandeshkhali in connection with alleged irregularities in the PDS scheme.
