BJP using agencies in bid to empty political field: TMC leader Kunal Ghosh

KOLKATA: Criticising central agency actions, Trinamool spokesperson Kunal Ghosh on Friday said ED and CBI were "mere actors playing out an old pre-poll script of political conspiracy penned by BJP."
"Rejected by people, they (BJP) are morally and politically bankrupt. They are trying to restrain, harass and disturb TMC leaders, hoping to empty the political field.They believe the only way they can fight this political battle (in Bengal) is by playing on an empty field. But people know what 'Khela Hobe' means, they are with CM Mamata Banerjee and Trinamool," Ghosh said.
The TMC spokesperson added: "The entire issue is a political vendetta... a conspiracy. BJP is scripting this. They are using ED, CBI and NIA to reap political benefits. They are misusing these agencies. BJP leaders are spelling it out, pre-empting these raids in public. A few days back in North 24 Parganas, a BJP leader publicly said 'see what happens in the district'. They are predicting where ED and CBI will go and the agencies are treading the same path. It is very evident that these (raids) are happening on BJP's instructions, to help them politically."
"CM has taken some decisions on North 24 Parganas. She has formed a core committee and Sujit (Bose) has been tasked to look after Dum Dum and Basirhat. Because of this, Sujit is BJP's target. The intention is to keep him engaged... and spread negativity around him," Ghosh said and added that Tapas Ray had an unblemished political career spanning several decades. "He is part of the party's state and district leadership. The intent is to put TMC in a dilemma," he said.
"These are things which hurt people, insult them and anger them. This is why we are saying there is a provocation," Ghosh went on to say.
Saying that BJP was living in a 'fool's paradise', Ghosh said conspiracies would not yield any result. "Bankrupt Bengal BJP leaders are sending lists to Delhi brass saying TMC leaders need to be restrained. These lists are reaching agencies," he added.
"If ED and CBI are concerned with Dum Dum and South Dum Dum municipalities, why are they blind to corruption in Contai municipality? BJP leaders had shown video footage of Suvendu Adhikari in the Narada scam. Why hasn't CBI done anything against them? Political bankruptcy is evident when Suvendu screams. Let them (ED and CBI) first prove their neutrality by acting against Suvendu," Ghosh said.
