  • Kolkata: More than a month after the body of Anjuyara Khatun Molla Ara (43) was found in her Kidderpore home, her husband, Shahjahan Molla, has been arrested in North 24 Parganas. Cops suspect Molla killed the woman after days of planning. He then started evading the police.

“We will take him into custody and then ascertain the cause and exact manner in which he committed the murder,” said an officer.

Anjuyara, a resident of the Dock East Boundary Road, was found unconscious on her bed, wrapped in a blanket, by neighbours on December 10. Police said neighbours alerted cops. “A pillow with red stains was found on the bed near her feet,” said an officer.

“We found Anjuyara had been married for 25 years but her husband had left her and remarried. He lived with his second wife in Kakdwip, where he worked as a tailor,” the officer said. Cops learnt from neighbours that Molla often used to visit Anjuyara and would stay overnight. “We suspect some financial considerations led to the murder. Her phone is also missing,” an officer said.
