Kolkata: The department of microbiology at the state-run RG Kar Medical College & Hospital (RGKMCH) has stopped testing to detect multi drug resistance TB since Monday as it has run out of testing kits. The medical college houses the state’s only Centre of Excellence (CoE) for drug resistance TB where the detection is done along with patient care. The department has written to the college principal Sandip Ghosh requesting to resolve the issue at the earliest as it is already hampering patient care services.
According to sources, the department already has about samples of 510 patients pending to be tested.TNN
