• Two deaths due to Covid: State audit

  • KOLKATA: The West Bengal government has updated two Covid deaths with the health ministry on Tuesday. Sources in the health department said two recent deaths have been declared as deaths due to Covid after proper verification.

    With this, the state has accepted Covid deaths during the current spike.

    Sources said that one of the two deaths reported on Tuesday includes the death of a 90-year-old man who died in a city hospital on Sunday which TOI reported on Tuesday.

    The deceased from Hedua was admitted with fever and cold on Jan 9 and found positive to the infection.

    There have been reports of at least six deaths of Covid-positive patients in Kolkata during the current uptick, in most the Covid 19 was incidental finding and they were admitted primarily for the treatment of their comorbidities.

    "In most cases the comorbidities were profound," said a state health official.
