Cash-for-query case: CBI summons Mahua Moitra's ex-partner Jai Anant Dehadrai

The CBI has summoned lawyer Jai Anant Dehadrai to appear before the agency on Thursday in connection with its probe against former Trinamul Congress MP Mahua Moitra in a corruption complaint against her, sources said on Tuesday.
Last month, Moitra was expelled from the Lok Sabha following an Ethics Committee report into the "cash-for-query" allegations brought against her by BJP MP Nishikant Dubey on the basis of a complaint filed by her estranged partner, Dehadrai.
Moitra has denied all allegations against her and challenged her expulsion in the Supreme Court.
“Dehadrai was once very close to Moitra. He has been asked to appear before the agency at 2pm on Thursday to record his statement,” a CBI official said.
In November last year, the CBI had started a preliminary probe into the cash-for-query allegations against Moitra on the orders of the Lokpal.
BJP MP Dubey had approached the Lokpal with a complaint against Moitra over allegations that she had taken bribes to raise questions in Parliament.
Earlier this month, the CBI had also approached the Lok Sabha secretariat asking for the Ethics Committee report that had recommended the expulsion of Moitra from Parliament over the cash-for-query charges.
