  • A mob of around 50 people allegedly barged into a classroom of a state-run school and attacked its teachers, in South 24 Parganas district on Sunday. The incident took place around 11 am.

The police later reached the spot and brought the situation under control.

According to police, the mob alleged that one of the teachers had sexually assaulted a student of the school.

“The teachers alleged that the agitators snatched their mobile phones. A section of teachers, however, claimed that the incident was orchestrated by another section of teachers whom they accused of corruption,” said police.

Reacting to the incident, West Bengal Education Minister Bratya Basu said, “We will 100 per cent take steps… I have just come to know about this. No one will be spared. I am seeking a report right away. Necessary steps will be taken.”
