  • It’s going to be a chilly week ahead for Kolkata as the Met said temperatures in the city are likely to dip as low as 13 degrees Celsius over the next few days.

The Regional Meteorological Centre in Alipore said that districts like North and South 24 Parganas, Purba Medinipur, Howrah and Kolkata are likely to experience light rain on Wednesday.

According to its forecast, the temperature levels may rise after Thursday.

Districts like Purba Medinipur, Hooghly, Jhargram, Purba Bardhaman, Birbhum, Murshidabad and Nadia may experience low rainfall next week, the centre added. At 1.6 degrees Celsius, Darjeeling was coldest among districts on Saturday, followed by Siliguri (4.8 degrees Celsius), Cooch Behar (6.6 degrees Celsius), Kalimpong (7.5 degrees Celsius), Jalpaiguri (8 degrees Celsius), Malda (9.6 degrees Celsius).

“Except for Darjeeling, no other region in north Bengal anticipates rainfall or snow over the next two days,” said a Met department official.
