• Doc meet to discuss quality of patient care

  • Kolkata: The city will host an international healthcare conference in April to create a dialogue on improving quality of patient treatment in Kolkata, and by extension, the rest of eastern India.

    Consortium of Accredited Healthcare Organizations (CAHO), one of India’s largest healthcare advocacy platforms, said its 8th international conference will be held at Biswa Bangla Convention Centre in Kolkata for the first time, on April 6 and 7.“Kolkata is essential as a centre for this dialogue as a gateway to the rest of eastern India,” said Shankar Sengupta, secretary, organising committee of the conference (CAHOCON).

    With the theme of making healthcare efficient, economical and equitable, the meet may host around 2,000 people from medical community, including around 15 members from SAARC countries.

    Lallu Joseph, secretary general of CAHO, said, “CAHOCON 2024’s theme serves as a clarion call for healthcare institutions to prioritize patient safety.” Rupak Barua, chairman, organising committee, said it can form a new focus on healthcare where patient satisfaction assumes primary importance.
