• School showcases heritage on annual day

  • Kolkata: In a spectacular display of talent, creativity, and cultural richness, Delhi Public School Howrah celebrated its Annual Day 2023, recently at a city auditorium. The event brought together students, parents, and faculty members to witness an evening filled with mesmerizing performances and heart-warming moments. The stage came alive with a vibrant kaleidoscope of cultural performances, showcasing the diversity of India’s heritage.

    Sayan Bhattacharya, chief education officer, Indian Museum, Kolkata, was the chief guest. Other dignitaries included pro vice-chairman of DPS Howrah, Vijay Agarwal and from the fields of art and education. The event commenced with the opening song. The school magazine, Stylus, a product of the principal’s vision and the efforts of the staff and the students, was released. The annual report was presented by the principal, Sunita Arora who, while addressing the gathering, expressed her pride in the students’ achievements and emphasized the importance of embracing diversity- one of the key aspects of the DPS Howrah’s innate vision. The celebration also marked the felicitation of the CBSE Board exam toppers of classes X and XII.

    One of the highlights of the evening was the portrayal of, ‘Shivputri Padmavati’, a captivating dance-drama etched out of a popular Bengali folklore. Students brought the mythological characters to life with graceful choreography and elaborate costumes, leaving the audience spellbound.

    Addressing the gathering, the chief guest applauded the school’s rendition of folklore, highlighting the need for a revival of our past and the importance of looking back at our roots for a cultural development.
