• Mamata begins visit to north districts, 1st stop Cooch Behar

  • Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Sunday embarked on a five-day trip to northern districts of the state. Her visit coincides with the Bengal leg of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’.

    The TMC chief landed in Hasimara in Alipurduar district in the afternoon and reached Cooch Behar district by car. However, she did not interact with the media.

    According to officials, Banerjee is scheduled to attend a government programme in Cooch Behar on Monday where she is likely to make announcements for the Rajbanshi community.

    Later in the day, she is scheduled to attend another event in Darjeeling’s Siliguri city, they added.

    On Tuesday, she will hold two meetings in Uttar Dinajpur’s Raiganj and Dakshin Dinajpur’s Balurghat.

    On Wednesday, she will leave for Malda and Murshidabad districts. Several meetings and public events have been organised where Banerjee will address party workers and the public.

    On Thursday, she will visit Krishnanagar in Nadia district and attend several events.
