• Kolkata gets break from chill as mercury levels shoot up

  • Kolkata is likely to experience warm weather over the next few days with little possibility of rainfall, weather department officials said. On Monday, the state capital recorded a maximum and minimum temperature of 26.1 degrees Celsius and 18 degrees Celsius respectively.

    The Regional Meteorological Centre in Alipore indicated that these temperature patterns are expected to persist over the next few days.

    The Met office also predicted light rain in parts of Birbhum, Murshidabad, Nadia, and Paschim Bardhaman districts. However, chances of rain are low in Kolkata, North 24 Parganas, South 24 Parganas, Purba Medinipur, Paschim Medinipur, Howrah, Hooghly, Purulia, Jhargram and Bankura districts this week.

    Shallow to moderate fog is expected over south Bengal during the week.

    In north Bengal, Darjeeling remained the coldest among all districts. It recorded a minimum temperature of 2 degrees Celsius and a maximum temperature of 7.4 degrees Celsius on Monday. A few north Bengal districts including Malda, Uttar Dinajpur, Dakshin Dinajpur, Cooch Behar, Alipurduar and Jalpaiguri, also experienced rainfall on Monday. The Met has predicted rain and snowfall in Darjeeling and Kalimpong till Wednesday.
