• Telegram fraud: 2 more held from Park Street, Taltala

  • Kolkata: Two more persons have been arrested, one from a hotel room in Park Street area, for allegedly running a Telegram app fraud gang that had direct links with cyber crooks in Bangalore and Chennai. So far, five persons have been arrested in this case where cops have recovered 52 debit cards, 19 swipe machines, 12 stamps, 115 cheque books and passbooks and 28 SIM cards so far.

    Debasree Hazra of Thakurpukur reported a Telegram fraud to cyber PS after losing Rs 12 lakh. The fraud took place in the name of watching a popular OTT content through a YouTube channel. The victim was promised high earnings if she could like the videos and bring more viewers. Once she invested money after being added to a Telegram group, the accused stopped all communications and the victim ended up losing Rs 12 lakh.

    “Initially, Vishant DR and Robert Raj were arrested from Bangalore and Syed Ahmed from Kolkata. Following money trail, on Friday, Zafar Hussain (46) was arrested from Taltala and Samir Ahmed (36) from Park Street,” said cops.
