• STF recovers heroin, ganja worth ₹70L, arrests three

  • Kolkata: The Bengal STF has nabbed three persons from Nabadwip in Nadia and New Jalpaiguri for carrying contraband drugs worth Rs 70 lakh. This includes 4.7 kg of heroin and 447.2 kg of ganja. The cops stated while the heroin was being smuggled in a bus, the ganja was being shifted from Odisha towards north-east in a truck registered at Nagaland.

    “A team of Siliguri unit of STF Bengal arrested one Sujit Biswas of Taherpur from a Siliguri-bound bus—that had started off from Rangia in Assam— at Fulbari More under New Jalpaiguri PS areaand found four packets ofheroin worth Rs 20 lakh from his possession,” said SP (operations), Indrajit Basu.Another STF team, arrested Alam Mondal and Alamin Mondal from a truck coming from Odisha and found about 447.2 kg of ganja being sent to Bongaon.
