Kolkata: A 27-year-old bike borne snatcher was arrested by Survey Park police on Tuesday. The accused, Ujjal Mondal, a resident of Dinesh Nagar in Mukundapur, had snatched belongings from women and the elderly, targeting desolate spots outside gyms and parks off EM Bypass, especially in the evenings. The bike used to commit the crimes and two high-end mobile phones snatched from the victims have been recovered.
According to DC (East) Arish Bilal, on Feb 10, around 6.20pm the accused first snatched a high end, costly mobile phone from Aditi Bag (21), a resident of Modern Park while she was walking in front of a gym. on Priyanath Ghosh Road. Twenty minutes later, he snatched another costly cell phone from Bikash Purkait (52), a resident of Subhasgram near Baruipur while he waswalking by Nandan Kanan close to Jora Bridge. TNN
