Kolkata: A seven-decade-old tree that was damaged by termite infestation, got uprooted and fell on a busy Gopalnagar Road in Alipore, injuring two friends who were chatting at a tea stall on Sunday morning. Baiju Mallick (50) and Uttam Das (56) suffered severe injuries on left leg and spine respectively and were admitted at SSKM Hospital. The fallen tree had blocked the road causing traffic disruption in the area for some time, before a team of civic officials cleared the road.
