  • Kolkata: The Bengal STF busted two international gangs that were supplying drugs and arms to various parts of the state, including Lake Town and Topsia in Kolkata, using the waterways and rail links. Two persons were arrested. Their illegal trade was spread between Bangladesh and Bihar.

    A Bangladeshi citizen, Suvo Mandal, who had entered India illegally and obtained fake identity documents , was arrested near Bangur Avenue under Lake Town police station with Marijuana worth Rs 10 lakh, said Indrajit Basu, SP (operations). At Kesharpur Ghat in Malda, Vijay Choudhury (52), of Jharkhand, was held with a pistol and two empty magazines. He had taken the river route for smuggling. tnn
